Make Your Own Fruity Facial Masks + Cocktail Pairings

12/29/2022 by azspagirl

diy fruity facial

Gently exfoliate with these DIY fruity facial masks while sipping on a perfectly paired cocktail.

Hold on there girlfriend! As much as you might be itching for a facial scouring, resist the urge to over-exfoliate. While most do-it-yourself scrubs are perfectly lovely for your body, they can be too harsh for your face. Coarse sea salt, coffee grinds and nut shells (step away from that apricot scrub!) in facial scrubs can lead to red, irritated skin. Go too crazy and you can create micro scratches on the skin, leaving it prone to bad bacteria and breakouts. Opt instead for gentle physical exfoliators like ground oatmeal and chemical exfoliators found in fruit and dairy.

Even better, pair these DIY fruity facial masks with delicious cocktails because, well … why not?! Who’s ready for smooth skin and even smoother libations? Here we go!

Pineapple & Coconut Mask

Pineapple contains an enzyme that lifts dead skin cells. With the added help of lactic acid in yogurt and ground coconut flakes, this delicious mask brings your natural glow to the surface.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt

Pulse coconut in a food processor until you have small flakes. Add pineapple and yogurt and blend until smooth. Brush on to clean skin and rinse after 10 minutes.

Goes great with: Painkiller Cocktail

Banana & Oats Mask

Extremely soothing to skin, oatmeal acts as a physical exfoliant in this mask. Bananas contain vitamin A and antioxidants while the milk kicks up the exfoliating power.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oatmeal
  • 1/2 ripe banana
  • 1 teaspoon milk

Grind oatmeal in a food processor. Mash the banana with a fork in a small bowl. Add the oatmeal and milk. Stir until smooth. Brush on to clean skin and rinse after 10 minutes.

Is even better with: Dirty Banana Cocktail

Grapefruit & Corneal Mask

Grapefruit does double duty to nourish with powerful antioxidants and clarify with exfoliating fruit acids. The cornmeal helps slough away dead skin cells while honey ups the hydration.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 2 tables fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey

Mix ingredients in a small bowl. Massage gently onto face (do not scrub!) and rinse after 10 minutes.

Makes a delicious ending with: Seabreeze Cocktail
