On Wednesday, Sept. 19, $10 of every Massage Envy one-hour service booked will benefit arthritis research.
Did you know that arthritis strikes 50 million Americans? That’s one in five people and the number continues to soar. Arthritis impacts people of every age and 65% of people who suffer from the disease are under age 65, including 300,000 children. The good news: Recent studies have found that massage therapy increases immune function, decreases stress levels and reduces recovery time in many medical conditions including arthritis.
To build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis, Massage Envy locations across greater Phoenix have joined forces again this year with the Arthritis Foundation to host Healing Hands for Arthritis, a one‐day national event. On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, the 28 Massage Envy Valley locations will donate $10 from every one‐hour massage or facial to the Arthritis Foundation. Prices for facials and massages are $49 and $39.
Additionally, Murad, Massage Envy Spa’s skincare partner, will donate 10% of all sales from their products sold during the event to the Arthritis Foundation.
Last year, this annual one‐day event raised nearly $500,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. Over the past two years, Arizona-based Massage Envy has donated nearly $100,000 to fund clinical research related to the benefits of massage therapy. Recent scientific studies have found that massage therapy increases immune function, decreases stress levels and reduces recovery time in many medical conditions including arthritis.
Massage Envy is also a national sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s Arthritis Walk events. Look for the walks to return to Arizona in May 2012. Find a walk in your area at arthritis.org.
