Ladies Who Lunch Nail Whitener

lemon peel bath soak

A cuticle softening, nail whitening home spa remedy for healthy nails.

One thing we know for sure:  The battery of nail polishes, glues, gels and polish remover can lead to discolored, brittle nails (read this if you don’t believe us). Giving your nails some downtime from polish can be done! Better than a pair of little white gloves, this easy DIY beauty remedy softens, heals and is a natural nail whitener. Olive oil effectively treats brittle nails while softening cuticles (much better than soapy water). Fresh lemon juice is a natural bleach to help decrease discoloration.

Here’s what you need:

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Here’s what you do:

Warm the olive oil in saucepan over low heat. Dip your nails in the oil for 5 to 10 minutes. After dipping, massage each nail individually. Massage your hands using the remaining oil. Gently push back the cuticles with an orangewood stick and shape the nails using an emery board. Blot any excess oil. Rub the nails with the lemon juice to whiten them.
