Blushing Bride: Expert Picks for Best Blushes

Makeup artist and glam girl Diane Aiello scoops on her must-have blushes for brides and brides at heart.

When it comes to blush, we’re often left scratching our heads. What looks pretty on the shelf, looks like we got pegged in the cheeks by two softballs when we get the product home. With bridal season in full bloom, we wanted some definitive answers on the blush of our dreams so we tapped makeup artist and fashion stylist Diane Aiello for her expertise.  Whether you’ve been hitched since coolots were cool (the first time around) or will be striding down the aisle in the near future, a blush that looks like a natural flush is always a good thing. Here are Diane’s top five picks.

BECCA Crème Blush is one of my number one favorite blushes because it imparts a fresh dewy look to the skin and lasts all day, so you’re as fresh after a few dozen times of the electric shuffle as you were when your makeup was applied. My favorite shades for brides are Frangiapani and Amaryllis.

I also adore BECCA Beach Tint in Watermelon and Grapefruit. This little gel doubles as a lip and cheek stain but it imparts such a fresh pretty look and it’s absolutely budge-proof. It’s perfect for the minimalist bride because it’s super sheer and lightweight.

Nars Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo is a must have for the gal who loves a bit of shimmer. This don’t leave the house without it combo contains the cult favorite Orgasm Blush (a peachy pink shimmer) and the famed Laguna Bronzer. The mix gives a sexy glow to the skin and is universally flattering … a real no brainer to getting gorgeous!

For the eco bride, I love Josie Maran’s My Favorite Argan Powders Palette. It contains five neutral shadows from light to dark, two pretty blushes and a luminizing bronzer. All of Josie’s products are pure, natural and healthy for your skin and the colors are gorgeous.

I could not live without my go-to Kevyn Aucoin Pure Powder Glow blushes, Doline and Shadore are the two most perfect shades of blush, one in sheer pink and one in sheer peach. These colors just wake up the face and look simultaneously natural, plus they go on so smoothly that you can be your own celebrity makeup artist.
