Valley Top 10: Best Spa and Resort Pools

09/06/2013 by azspagirl

best resort pools

With perpetually sunny skies and pool weather a constant in the Valley of the Sun, we thought we’d break out our top 10 list of best dips in the Valley. Pack your sunscreen and hit one of these greater Phoenix resort pools for a cool, refreshing plunge. Cannonball!

For exotic visions: Kasbah Pool at Montelucia Resort & Spa, featuring cozy Moroccan-inspired wicker loungers and a stunning backdrop. Start your day at the stunning Joya Spa before wasting away an afternoon poolside. 4949 E Lincoln Dr, Paradise Valley, 480.627.3200.

For people gawking: The Oh Pool at Hotel Valley Ho, where on any given day you’ll find an eclectic mix of folks floating around this boutique pool shaped like the rim of a martini glass. A visit to the resort’s VH Spa for Vitality + Health gives you a free all-day pass to the pool. 6850 E Main St, Scottsdale, 480.248.2000.

For kids and kids at heart: Adventure Water Park at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa, where you can float down a lazy river ride, fly off a water slide or ride the waves on the new FlowRider. Better yet, drop the kids and hubby off at the pool while you steal away to Westin’s Agave Spa – just a stone’s throw from the pool. 6902 E Greenway Pky, Scottsdale, 480.624.1202.

For hiding out: The Marilyn pool at the historic Arizona Biltmore. While not the high-flying water works of the main pool, this quiet lagoon is where Marilyn Monroe once chose to float. Glam up after you hit the pool at the intimate Biltmore Spa, an easy saunter from the pool. 2400 E Missouri Ave, Phoenix, 602.995.6600.

For sandy beaches: The 2.5 acre Water Playground at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa is home to a three-story high-speed slide, a white sand beach,  10 swimming pools, 20 fountains and 45 waterfalls. Book a service at the resort’s Spa Avania, and enjoy a dip in the spa’s exclusive French Celtic Mineral Pool. 7500 E Doubletree Ranch Rd, Scottsdale, 480.444.1234.

For blissin’ out: The adults-only spa pool at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, where you can get rent a private Revive Spa cabana for chilling in quiet bliss. 5350 E Marriott Dr, Phoenix, 480.293.3700.

For family bonding: The Sonoran Splash Pool at Fairmont Scottsdale, featuring a water recreation area with two water slides, a zero-entry deck area ideal for toddlers and private cabanas for a family camp-out. For a real treat, schedule a treatment at the resort’s Willow Stream and enjoy a private dip in the spa’s rooftop pool. 7575 E Princess Dr, 480.585.4848.

For panoramic views: The infinity edge pool at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, best for sweeping views across Paradise Valley and beyond. The view’s so darn good you might strain your neck from all the gawking. Solution, hit the exclusive Sanctuary Spa for a massage interlude. 5700 E Mcdonald Dr, Paradise Valley, 480.948.2100.

For night owls: The rooftop WET pool at the W Scottsdale, with underwater lighting and porthole-shaped peepholes into the resort below. Be sure to schedule a stop at the W’s Bliss Spa for a pre-plunge pedi. 7277 E Camelback Rd, Scottsdale, 480.970.2100.

For the VIP treatment: The newly enhanced pool at Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale boasts two VIP cabanas, outfitted with flat screen televisions, mini fridges, I-pod docking stations, ceiling fans and dedicated service. Non-resort guests who book a service at Four Seasons Spa totaling $210 or more get a complimentary pool pass for the day.

For thrill seekers: Oasis Water Park at Arizona Grand Resort, boasting the eight-story Slide Canyon Tower with three water slides. Steal away to the resort’s spacious Arizona Grand Spa between plunges. 8000 S Arizona Grand Pkwy, Phoenix, 602.438.9000.

For partying: It’s been dubbed “Scottsdale’s hottest pool party” for good reason. The Release Pool Parties at Talking Stick Resort feature poolside spinning by top DJs from Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Check the schedule online for upcoming dates and don’t forget to make time to shoot up to the 14th floor for some serious relaxation at the Spa at Talking Stick after your poolside adventure. 9800 E. Indian Bend Rd., Scottsdale, 480.850.7777.
